Newborn Photoshoot - Russian Inspired Photoshoot - Baby Boy - Calgary Newborn Photographer
I was so excited when Roma's mom - Lila contacted me for a newborn photoshoot as she has specifically requested to have some of the Russian heritage inspired photos. Both myself and Lila have originally come from Russia to Canada, so it was dear to my heart to nail this photoshoot and to make sure I represent! I have previously done Russian inspired photos with little girls (wrapped them up as matryoshka (aka Russian doll)) and took photos of them wrapped up with a bunch of matryoshkas lined up (you can see this image here), however I was at loss as to what to do for a newborn baby boy. So I started thinking back to my childhood, what did I like to do, what movies did I like to watch... and I have remembered one specific movie that I have watched over and over again about four youngsters who became heroes in the Russian Civil War and were at the end of the movie honored and acknowledged by the Red Army called "The Elusive Avengers" (aka "Neulovimie Mstiteli"). As soon as I thought of this movie, I was on a mission to get that special Russian Civil War inspired hat called "Budenovka". I have contacted one of my vendors in Russia and asked her to make me that specific hat, which she did. Once I got the hat, the rest of the picture just came together in my head - I need an antique horse, baby in a basket and a fur - and voila - Russian Inspired photo is ready to be made. While waiting for Roma to be born, I have visited the local Russian produce store called Yummy Russia, where I often buy some yummy Russian food and they were selling a pair of boxing gloves in Russian flag colors with RUSSIA written all over them (those decorative boxing gloves that people usually hang on their front mirror in a car), right there and then I had another idea for a Russian inspired shot - little Russian boxer! I got the gloves, ordered a little blue overall and was waiting for my Russian little model to be born! World, meet handsome Roma!
